L’ Open de Stuttgart [a] (actuellement sponsorisé par Mercedes Benz et appelé MercedesCup) est un tournoi de tennis de la série ATP Tour 250 sur le circuit ATP . Entre 1970 et 1989, l’Open de Stuttgart était un événement du circuit de tennis du Grand Prix . De 1990 à 1999, l’Open de Stuttgart était un tournoi de l’ ATP Championship Series . Le nom de la Championship Series a été changé en ATP International Series Gold en 2000, et l’Open de Stuttgart faisait partie de cette série de 2000 à 2001 et de 2003 à 2008. En 2002, l’Open de Stuttgart a été brièvement rétrogradé pendant un an au statut de l’ATP International Series . En 2009, la série a été renommée Statut de la série ATP Tour 250 , que l’Open de Stuttgart a conservé depuis.

Tenu depuis 1916 à Stuttgart , en Allemagne, l’Open de Stuttgart s’est joué sur terre battue jusqu’en 2014 inclus. À partir de 2015, le tournoi se joue sur gazon. Parallèlement au passage aux courts en gazon , le tournoi se déroule désormais dans la semaine suivant la fin de Roland-Garros . [1]

L’Autrichien Thomas Muster a remporté le titre deux fois consécutives (1995 et 1996).

Le tournoi récompense le vainqueur du titre d’une voiture Mercedes , en plus du prix en argent.
