Cet article est une liste des pays et territoires par génération d’électricité à partir de sources renouvelables chaque année. Notez que la plupart des pays importent et/ou exportent de l’électricité, de sorte que les chiffres en pourcentage ne reflètent pas le pourcentage de consommation qui est basé sur les énergies renouvelables. D’après le rapport 2020 de REN21 , les énergies renouvelables ont contribué pour 19,2 % à la consommation énergétique mondiale des humains et pour 23,7 % à leur production d’électricité en 2014 et 2015, respectivement. Cette consommation d’énergie est divisée en 8,9 % provenant de la biomasse traditionnelle , 4,2 % en énergie thermique (biomasse moderne, chaleur géothermique et solaire), 3,9 % en hydroélectricité et 2,2 % en électricité éolienne, solaire, géothermique et biomasse .. Les investissements mondiaux dans les technologies renouvelables se sont élevés à plus de 332 milliards de dollars américains en 2018. [1] [2] [3] À l’échelle mondiale, on estime à 7,7 millions le nombre d’emplois associés aux industries des énergies renouvelables , l’énergie solaire photovoltaïque étant le plus grand employeur d’énergies renouvelables. [4] En 2015 [update]dans le monde, plus de la moitié de toute la nouvelle capacité électrique installée était renouvelable. [5]

Les données brutes proviennent de l’IRENA [6] , sauf si une source plus récente est disponible, et sont complétées par les statistiques de l’Energy Information Administration (EIA) des États-Unis, comme spécifié.
